American West genuine leather handbags can last a lifetime when properly cared for. To keep your bag looking great, simply follow these
guidelines:

Storage: Store your bag in the dust bag it came with in a cool, dry atmosphere out of direct sunlight. Use stuffing to help retain its shape.

Protection: There are many leather protection products on the market that are great to use to shield your new leather goods from dirt, grime buildup, and stains while making them easier to clean. Using leather protection on your items is a proactive step to help keep it last longer in great condition.

Cleaning: Regularly wipe down your handbag using a damp cloth to prevent the buildup of dust and oils. Never soak your bag in water and avoid harsh cleaners to avoid damage. When using a leather cleaner prior to conditioning, never scrub the leather, which can cause damage. You’re removing dirt and stains from daily use and cleaning products are designed to remove these without extreme force. If your leather item isn’t dirty, you can skip cleaning and move right to conditioning. Scratches, scuff marks and other similar types of damage will not be removed with a leather cleaner.

Conditioning: Proper conditioning is the key to maintaining your leather bag. Use a high quality leather conditioner every six months to prevent cracking and fading. Products designed to condition leather are typically used on older products that are showing signs of wear instead of new items. Conditioning replaces the item’s luster, helps to moisturize the leather, and helps keep colors from fading. Avoid products
with lanolin (see caution tab).

Interior Care: Be mindful of what you put in your bag. Because it cannot be submerged in water, some stains will be impossible to remove. We suggest using a cosmetic case or pouch to keep makeup and ink pens in. Check the stitching when doing maintenance and repair any stitching that has broken due to use.

All leather products age with time: American West believes bags should be timeless, so they choose leathers that break in beautifully over time. Scratches, creases and darkening are to be expected. How you carry your bag is how it'll age, making every bag especially personal. All leather products are susceptible to scratches and scuffs from jewelry and other items and from rough usage. Handle your leather products with care to avoid damaging the leather. Prior to cleaning or conditioning, remove all jewelry to avoid inadvertently scratching the leather.

Thorn Ridge doesn't recommend lanolin for conditioning leather. It can make leather too soft, can make it sticky, and prolonged use can damage the stitching. There are many other products that don't contain lanolin available for sale that will keep your leather goods in great condition without causing damage.

In order to be eligible for a return, your American West item must be in the same condition as you received it, which is in as-new, resellable condition with tags on, in its original packaging which is still intact, unused, no scuff or scratch marks, no stains, or other marks, or any kind of damage on or inside the leather product. You will also need to provide us with the sales receipt or proof of purchase. We do not accept returns of products that have been opened, used, or damaged.

This product typically ships within 48 hours. Orders received during the weekend or on holidays then the 48 hours starts the next business day. Please refer to our Shipping Policy for complete details.

We know things happen and sometimes typos are made when checking out or you might change your mind after placing an order. We want you to have a great shopping experience with us so we manually process all orders and will hold the order for 2 hours before finalizing it and sending it to fulfillment. If you made an error when checking out or if you need to cancel or make changes to your order, we must be notified within this 2 hour window by emailing us at contact@thornridge.com, calling or texting us at 561-449-9956, or submitting our contact form to let us know of the problem and what we need to do to remedy it for you. Give us your name, phone number (in case we need to call you), order number, the nature of the problem and what we need to do to correct it. Make sure you leave a voicemail if we don’t answer (we check messages regularly). 

Holding orders for 2 hours gives our customer’s plenty of time to change their mind and cancel the order, or to make any corrections to their address, or any other changes. The only thing we can’t change is your payment method. If you needed to change that, we’d have to cancel the order and you’d have to place it again because we do not have access to your card info. We’ve heard all of the complaints online about customers not being able to cancel or change their orders once placed, and we don’t want to be in that category. To be fair to you, we will wait and work with you, but you have to be fair with us too and notify us in writing of any changes needed within the 2 hour window from the time you place your order. Don't get mad if you wait 2 1/2 to 3 hours to tell us and then we can't do anything about it because we've already processed the order and sent it to fulfillment.

All of our products are in stock and ready to ship except the made-to-order printed products, American West and some horse tack (and we do have some products from those lines in stock but not everything) but we still wait the two hours for in-stock items unless you tell us to process the order immediately. In order to be eco-friendly, our clothing, housewares, drinkware, blankets, and some other products are made-to-order and printed specifically for you through agreements with our manufacturers, vendors, and our production partners and are shipped manufacturer direct. For these products, once we process the order, it is automatically sent into their fulfillment system. Once it is processed and goes to fulfillment we can’t cancel the order or change anything about the order because it is now in the production channels and out of our control and it will ship to you. So, we wait two hours to process it…for you… just in case. It’s extra work on our end to manually approve and submit all orders instead of letting it happen automatically from the beginning, but if it makes you happy, it makes us happy.

REMEMBER: Once we process the order, we can’t cancel it or make any changes to it. So you must contact us within 2 hours of placing your order if a change / cancellation is needed.
